 Hatteras Island, North Carolina is a very special and beautiful area.  Located about 40 miles out in the Atlantic Ocean, Hatteras serves as one of the barrier islands that protects the coast from the sea.

 INDIAN TOWN GALLERY is located in the little town of Frisco which is located on the southern end of the island.  Our name is

derived from the protective ridge that is behind the gallery and runs parallel to the water.  Years and years ago, there was a large Native American culture that lived on this ridge - hence its name and now ours.

 Most of our artists are local and live on the Outer Banks and in nearby regions of eastern North Carolina.  The breathtaking beauty of the ocean is an inspiration to us all.  We carry a wonderful selection of local art, jewelry, and handmade creations that can’t be bought anywhere else.

 This is our 7th season.  We first opened in a small 700 square foot space and have expanded a little each season.  In August 2004, we moved across the street into a brand new facility with a coffee shop.  The larger store allows us to carry more and display it better.  The coffee simply keeps us going.

 If you are ever out this way, visit us at 50840 Highway 12.  It is the only road and is often voted as the most scenic one in the country.  INDIAN TOWN GALLERY is right on the road about 4 miles south of the world famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
